Discover how a centuries-old Turkish coffee ritual transforms into an AI-powered mobile experience of intuition, culture, and connection.

Problem Statement:
Traditional coffee fortune-telling is limited by geography and access to experienced readers. This cultural ritual, once a shared in-person experience, lacks a modern, accessible platform that preserves its authenticity while embracing digital convenience.

Process:
Research revealed that the real challenge was not replicating fortune-telling but translating its ritual and intimacy into a digital space. The key insight was that access and authenticity could coexist if the experience preserved the emotional tone of a reading while removing physical limitations. This led to design choices such as allowing photo uploads from anywhere, adding cultural cues through color, typography, and symbols, and including sample fortunes to establish credibility. Recognizing that AI can misinterpret imagery, I added progress indicators, disclaimers, and retry options to build user trust. Cultural sensitivity guided every visual decision, ensuring motifs enhanced rather than exaggerated tradition. Usability testing showed that first-time users needed clear guidance, prompting the inclusion of onboarding steps and guest login. Each refinement—contrast adjustments, microcopy improvements, share options—grew from the belief that clarity builds confidence. Ultimately, the process balanced heritage and innovation, proving that respectful design can make even an ancient ritual feel personal, intuitive, and alive in a digital form.
