DESIGNERS HELP STRAY DOGGS
FUNDRAISING SM CAMPAIGN
What if creativity could fill an empty bowl? This project turned design talent into real-life support for Istanbul’s stray animals. Through an open call to artists, photographers, and designers, we transformed creative work into meals for thousands of dogs and cats living on the streets.
Istanbul, home to over 20 million people, is equally famous for its estimated 150,000 stray cats and dogs — animals that have long been part of the city’s character. Traditionally, residents leave food and water for them, but when new government proposals threatened to remove strays to remote “wildlife parks,” widespread public opposition arose. The situation highlighted how deeply the city cares for its animals — and how urgent their needs still are.
Process:
To channel this compassion into action, we launched “We Feed Friends,” a creative fundraising campaign. The idea was simple but powerful: artists could donate their work, and every print sold would help feed stray animals. We invited photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, and art directors to participate. Using social media as our main platform, we promoted the campaign, showcased donated artworks, and encouraged people to contribute by purchasing them. Each sale directly funded food and shelter for stray dogs and cats.
