METU TV AD
IGNITE CURIOSITY
Middle East Technical University Ad. Scenario by Ender Emiroglu
This film transforms a single spark into a storm of imagination. It asks what happens when curiosity meets courage and turns that question into movement, emotion, and discovery. Ignite Curiosity is more than a title; it’s a promise that thinking differently can change everything. The film was created to make viewers feel the energy of learning, the pulse of experimentation, and the poetry of human potential. It invites you to see what happens when a question becomes an ignition point.
Problem Statement:
Despite its reputation, METU faced a challenge: it was admired but emotionally distant. Many prospective students saw it as demanding, even intimidating—a place of intellect rather than inspiration. The goal was to bridge that gap by revealing the human side of excellence, to show that rigor can also be alive, creative, and deeply personal. The problem was not awareness but connection. The brand needed to speak to the heart as much as it spoke to the mind.
Process:
Research uncovered that what truly draws people to METU is not prestige but possibility. Students are motivated by curiosity—the thrill of uncovering answers, not just earning degrees. This insight became the foundation of the creative platform Ignite Curiosity. The narrative began with a single question that rippled outward into collaboration, invention, and impact. Each scene followed the rhythm of discovery, moving from small gestures—a hand, a spark, a thought—to large-scale transformations—a satellite launch, an architectural marvel, a new idea born.
The script was written in short, charged lines designed to mirror how curiosity feels in motion: fast, raw, alive. The visuals blended intimate human details with grand technological imagery, uniting emotion and intellect. The pacing of the edit and sound followed a pulse that grew steadily from quiet curiosity to bold creation. Typography was not static but kinetic, rising and fading with each idea’s breath.
As the Creative Director and Copywriter, I led the concept and message development, wrote the full script, and collaborated closely with the director and post-production team. Every choice—from tone to timing—was guided by one aim: to make curiosity feel visible, tangible, and contagious.
